2020 Staff Pick’em Week 10

We really are getting better!

NCAA Football: Vanderbilt at Mississippi State
Coming on strong like Chris Pierce!
Matt Bush-USA TODAY Sports

Last week was noted for its uniformity amongst the picks. CDA sidestepped the mainstream by being the lone person on one side in 3 games. He got none of them right in route to a 1-5 record for the week. Conversely, Import went 2-0 on his lone-man missions while VU ‘04 got his only such pick right. Both of them went 5-1. With the same picks for every game, Stan and I were 4-2 while Tom checked in at 3-3 after going 0-1 for his dissenting opinion on BYU-Boise State. Overall, we were 22-14 to edge upwards to 192-238, which is 44.65%, on the year.

Florida shocking Georgia in a complete beatdown left all of us but VU ‘04 at a loss. Import’s break from the pack benefited from Texas A&M pounding the ‘Cocks. Everyone got to laugh at CDA for not knowing Vanderbilt would keep it close with Mississippi State, Arkansas would beat (or lose by 1) hosting Tennessee, or that East Carolina was going to get sank by Tulane.

After some light weeks due to bye weeks, 10 games were supposed to be on the docket. Instead, COVID took out 4 games to leave a meager slate again. We are all confident Vanderbilt can keep it somewhat close on the road again, this time at Kentucky. Two go against four for Arkansas at Florida, South Carolina at Ole Miss, and Pitt at Georgia Tech. Army at Tulane is an even split while we have one person going against the grain for Miami at Virginia Tech. The streak of 3 straight weeks over .500 as a staff is on the line.

The Rules

  1. Normally, the picks are for all SEC games with one dealer’s choice where I get to choose another game to make us pick. This year, it is going to be all SEC games, one dealer’s choice, and the Campbell Fighting Camels game! Why? Because I said so.
  2. The picks will be made AGAINST THE SPREAD. Too many games are easy to pick heads up. Also, this will serve as a PSA for why you should not get into sports gambling with more states making it legal.
  3. The lines will be taken from Oddshark’s consensus spread some time Monday, so they may not match what is listed at the time this article is published.
