10/8 MLB Playoff Open Thread

Four games again!

Re-opening Continues Across Densely Populated New York And New Jersey Areas Photo by Alexi Rosenfeld/Getty Images

Well, the bad news for me, resident Astros fan, is that the Astros did not wrap up the ALDS yesterday. The good news, such as it is, is that it means we get four MLB Playoff games again, for the third day in a row.

Let’s go!

1:00 PM CT: Atlanta Braves vs. Miami Marlins (FS1)

Kyle Wright starts for the Braves, who are looking to sweep the Marlins out of the playoffs. Should that happen, it would mark the first time the Marlins have ever made the playoffs and not won the World Series.

2:30 PM CT: Oakland A’s vs. Houston Astros (TBS)

The real reason that I, resident Astros fan, wanted the team to wrap up the series in three games is that the Astros’ rotation after the third starter has been super shaky all season. It might be Zack Greinke today, but if he’s not able to go, well, the A’s might come back and win this series 3-2.

6:00 PM CT: Tampa Bay Rays vs. New York Yankees (TBS)

If you have a soul and are not from the Tri-State area, you are rooting for the Rays.

6:30 PM CT: Tulane at Houston (ESPN)

Surprise! And you thought this was just an MLB Playoff open thread. If we can talk about fast-food fried chicken, we can talk about an SEC team playing a road game at an SWC team. Yes, I am confused by the fact that an SEC team is playing a non-conference game.

7:20 PM CT: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Chicago Bears (FOX/NFL Network)

In AoG tradition, this is a tailor-made opportunity to complain about Ke’Shawn Vaughn’s usage.

8:00 PM CT: Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Diego Padres (MLB Network)

This is relegated to the MLB Network. No I do not care to look up what FS1 deemed so important to broadcast instead.
