Open Thread: Another Saturday Without Vanderbilt Football

New, comments

I mean, did you want to watch that anyway?

NCAA Football: UNLV at Vanderbilt Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

In an unusual development, Vanderbilt football is on its second consecutive bye week. Of course, this one was actually scheduled, unlike the last one which resulted from a COVID outbreak. (Now, if you listened to Chris Lee’s podcast earlier this week... well, we might not have a game next week either.)

In other words, we all get to point and laugh at other teams playing football. But particularly the 2:30 game on CBS.

Early Shift

  • Mercer at Army (CBS Sports)
  • Auburn at Ole Miss (SEC Network)
  • Oklahoma at TCU (ABC)

1:30 PM CT

  • Florida Atlantic at Marshall (Stadium)

2:00 PM CT

  • Central Arkansas at Eastern Kentucky (ESPN3)

What to watch: Nice of you to join us, Big Ten. Anyway, the obvious pick here is South Dakota Mines-Colorado Mesa, but probably Auburn-Ole Miss is going to be the most interesting game. I don’t know.

Afternoon Shift

2:30 PM CT

  • Alabama at Tennessee (CBS)

7:00 PM CT

  • Virginia at Miami (ACC Network)
  • Louisiana Tech at UTSA (ESPNU)

8:00 PM CT

  • Cincinnati at SMU (ESPN2)

What to watch: Honestly, probably Game 4 of the World Series. But, Cincinnati-SMU should be good.

Late Shift

9:15 PM CT

  • Texas State at BYU (ESPN)

9:30 PM CT

  • UNLV at San Diego State (CBS Sports)
  • Air Force at San Jose State (FS1)

What to watch: Welcome back, Mountain West! Welcome back, 9:30 PM football! I mean, it’s football and it’s late. Watch UNLV-San Diego State, and get sad that we lost to UNLV.
