Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin addressed the postponement throughout a Zoom-based teleconference at 2 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday, noting that Florida has “less than 50 scholarship players available currently.”
Alabama head football coach Nick Saban and athletic director Greg Byrne have both tested positive for COVID-19, per the University of Alabama. Saban directed football practice from home today.
So, we’ll blow right past Saban and go to Florida, because this should never, ever be a quote from your athletic director.

So, yeah: some Florida players were symptomatic last week and made the trip to Texas A&M, which means that either they weren’t tested before getting on the plane or they tested negative but were symptomatic. And we’re starting to see the problem with giving individual schools control over enforcing the protocols. How did we think that was going to go?
Anyway, Vanderbilt did return to the practice field yesterday, albeit with fewer than 53 scholarship players available.
