Good morning.
I didn’t put this in yesterday’s Anchor Drop because I was too busy ranting about the state of Vanderbilt Athletics. (Suggested slogan from parlagi: “Vanderbilt Athletics: Fuck It, You’re Gonna Die Anyway!”) But Vanderbilt has apparently spent $5 million to purchase the Wendy’s on West End.
Vanderbilt University has paid $5 million for the Wendy’s property that sits near its campus — a purchase that gives the institution control over a massive chunk of contiguous Midtown land and buildings.https://t.co/79MEXbjtZP via @BillDazzle pic.twitter.com/nlkZVk2oMG

So, Vanderbilt has been buying up a bunch of land around campus for a few years and nobody is actually sure just what Vanderbilt intends to do with that land. Of course, evidently it’s already come out that the land isn’t going to be used for athletics. So that means that this is going to be... more parking, probably. I don’t know. I really just wanted to use the headline “Vanderbilt Buys Wendy’s,” honestly.
Now, if you must have some basketball content, well, Vanderbilt plays at Kentucky tonight at 5:30 PM CT on the SEC Network. That’s a ridiculously early start time and you can probably blame the SEC Network for that one, though I’m not actually even sure why they’re starting games that early. (For the record, last night’s game between Texas A&M and Tennessee was also at 5:30.)
Here’s some pregame reading material for tonight’s game:
