Anchor Drop, January 25, 2020: Baseball practice underway

The long winter is almost over.

NCAA Baseball: College World Series-Michigan v Vanderbilt Steven Branscombe-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning.

Between football and basketball, this winter has been, in a word, ridiculous. Don’t worry, though, it’s almost over. Vanderbilt opened baseball preseason training on Friday, and the Commodores are ranked #1 or #2 in every national poll. All those losses we suffered through are soon to be repaid to the rest of the SEC thanks to our unlimited scholarships.

But speaking of basketball, we’re not done yet. The Commodores go on the road to play South Carolina, on what’s normally the day reserved for the Big 12/SEC Challenge — only, we’re not playing this year. Tonight’s game will air at 7:00 PM CT on the SEC Network.

Women’s tennis beat Penn 4-0 on Friday, advancing to the championship match of the ITA Kick-Off on Saturday, where they’ll face Arizona State. Men’s tennis opens the Kick-Off in Austin today against Florida State.
