Football coach compares his team to the Titanic

He knows the Titanic sank, right?

Things may not be going well for our Vanderbilt Commodores two weeks into the new season. But at least Derek Mason has yet to go here when talking about his team:

“When the boat starts going down, remember all those mice running to the top, right?” Pruitt said to the Knoxville Quarterback Club on Monday. “We have had a few that’s left our program, but you will figure out who wants to be a Tennessee Vol and who don’t.

So, let’s unpack this analogy. In this quote, Tennessee football is the Titanic. (Georgia State, we can only assume, is the iceberg. Or maybe it was BYU, this isn’t 100 percent clear.) The players who transferred are the mice running to the top of the ship in an effort to avoid going down with the ship. The players staying with the team are the ones who are willing to stick by the guy who steered the ship into the iceberg and go down with the ship.

Is this really the analogy you wanted to make, Coach?
