DISCLAIMER: This Series is called “Bad Gambling Advice.” Should you rely on this post to bet actual money on the outcomes of sporting events, that is your fault, not mine. After all, this post is titled “Bad Gambling Advice,” and what part of “Bad Gambling Advice” do you not understand?
The good news? Bad Gambling Advice went 5-4 ATS last week! That puts it over .500 on the season at 19-18-4, which isn’t enough to beat the vig, but it’s enough to say that I’ve won more than I’ve lost. The bad news is that I went 3-5-1 on totals, dropping that record to a still good 21-17-3.
Of course this cannot keep up. Let’s make some losing picks.
Northern Illinois at Vanderbilt (11:00 AM, SEC Network)
This will be either the beginning of the end for Derek Mason, or else the first step in turning the season around after an 0-3 start. I am voting the latter.
Projected final score: Vanderbilt 31, Northern Illinois 21
Picks: Vanderbilt -6.5, Under 54.5
Arkansas vs. Texas A&M (11:00 AM, ESPN)
After losing to San Jose State, I am not picking Arkansas again. Even getting 23 points against Texas A&M.
Projected final score: Texas A&M 42, Arkansas 14
Picks: Texas A&M -23, Under 57.5
Ole Miss at Alabama (2:30 PM, CBS)
Why on earth is CBS wasting its selection on this crap?
Projected final score: Alabama 52, Ole Miss 7
Picks: Alabama -35.5, Under 61
Towson at Florida (3:00 PM, SEC Network)
lol Florida is playing two FCS teams this year
Projected final score: Florida 42, Towson 0
Pick: Florida -33
Mississippi State at Auburn (6:00 PM, ESPN)
I still haven’t decided what I think of Auburn. The defense appears to be good... but the offense, well, still looks like it’s being piloted by a true freshman, which it is. I’m betting on this being close and low-scoring.
Projected final score: Auburn 24, Mississippi State 14
Picks: Mississippi State +11, Under 47
Kentucky at South Carolina (6:30 PM, SEC Network)
Did you know that Kentucky has won five in a row against South Carolina? I’m not a believer in either of these teams, so let’s just look for that streak to continue.
Projected final score: Kentucky 28, South Carolina 24
Picks: Kentucky +2.5, Over 50
