Good morning.
Vanderbilt football is 16 days away. There are two 16’s for Vanderbilt — one whom you’ve heard of, and one you might not have (but you read Anchor of Gold, so you probably have.) Kalija Lipscomb should finish his Vanderbilt career as the school’s all-time leader in career touchdown receptions (he needs just six this year to pass Jordan Matthews.) He won’t catch Matthews in career receptions or receiving yards, but you’d definitely take that from a former two-star recruit from New Orleans. The other 16 is DB BJ Anderson, a 6’1”, 184-pound redshirt freshman who played in four games last season.
Rising senior golfer John Augenstein is into the round of 32 at the U.S. Amateur after winning on Wednesday.
And, ICYMI, Vanderbilt is selling beer at football games this year. Big news.
Dare Odeyingbo was waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Tuesday, but by Wednesday, he’d been picked up by the Cincinnati Bengals.
Off the West End
Ohio State is trying to trademark “The.” I mean...
MLB should threaten tanking teams with relegation. Insert your own promotion-and-relegation fever dreams. (Meanwhile, European soccer seems to be trying to get rid of that for selected teams...)
CBS Sports released its preseason All-America team. Jared Pinkney makes the second team.
