Derek Mason and his staff got their 13th commitment for the 2020 recruiting class yesterday. Diego LaMonica announced his intentions to go from Gulliver Prep in Miami, Florida, to West End when his high school career ends. LaMonica chose the Commodores over a host of P5 offers such as South Carolina, West Virginia, Georgia Tech, and Oregon, along with Florida schools Florida Atlantic, Central Florida, and Florida International.

Listed as a 6’4” and 226 pound Tight End, the Miami product ranks as the 26th TE and 103rd prospect in the state of Florida according to the 247Composite. His 0.8638 rating makes him a fairly high 3* recruit. It also positions him as the 3rd highest Commodore commit so far behind DT Jordan Butler (0.8804) and Pro-Style QB Ken Seals (0.8776). Vanderbilt’s current roster lists 7 TEs already with Cody Markel and Jared Pinkney on their way out the door following this season. Of course, at his size, it is possible that LaMonica transitions to WR as a big body in the slot. Enjoy the Hudl highlight video from his junior season below.

Anchor Down, Diego!
