Good morning.
We are now 51 days away from Vanderbilt football’s season opener against Georgia. There is no #51 on the roster.
Vanderbilt’s three player representatives for next week’s SEC Media Days were announced on Wednesday, and you won’t believe who they are. Actually, you will totally believe who they are: RB Ke’Shawn Vaughn, TE Jared Pinkney, and WR Kalija Lipscomb. Vanderbilt is one of five teams that isn’t sending a quarterback, and three of the other four — like Vanderbilt — aren’t returning their starting QB and probably aren’t clear on who their starter will be. (The fifth, Kentucky, does return its starter but might have some questions about their starter this year.) More telling, perhaps, is that the Commodores aren’t sending any defensive players.
Morgan Baxendale and Auston Kim have qualified for the U.S. Women’s Amateur, which will be played next month in West Point, Mississippi.
Vanderbilt is contracting with Tailgate Guys to “enhance the fan experience,” whatever that means.
That’s it for today. No scoreboard what with yesterday being the worst sports day of the year, but there is an MLB game tonight as well as the PGA’s John Deere Classic on the Golf Channel today.
