This time last year, SS Ethan Paul, LF Stephen Scott, RHP Patrick Raby, and 1B Julian Infante had all committed to come back for their senior years to make a run at a title in Omaha.
This year is a different story. Winning a title will change things, after all. All four of those seniors are, as expected, currently playing in the minors. Further, as of press time, the following juniors and draft eligible sophomores have signed with the teams who drafted them (or are believed to do so shortly): RF JJ Bleday, C Philip Clarke, RHP Drake Fellows, LHP Zach King, LHP Jackson Gillis, LHP AJ Franklin, and LHP Joe Gobillot. We’re not 100% sure what CF Pat DeMarco will do by July 12th, though it was believed at the end of the season that he would sign with the Yankees.
Of course, we will still bring back a frighteningly strong team capable of returning to—and doing damage in—Omaha.
With Kumar Rocker, Mason Hickman, and incoming freshman Jack Leiter, we will have the strongest pitching staff in college baseball.
Today, those pitchers learned they will have a rock solid senior leader calling their games, as Ty Duvall’s coming back!
Still can’t believe it! What an incredible season. Excited for one last run with the @VandyBoys pic.twitter.com/OKTowvx6S9

Duvall split time behind the plate with Philip Clarke and served as the DH on days when he was not behind the plate. He slashed a Moneyball-esque .275/.418/.413 on the year. This year, he was Mason Hickman’s personal catcher. Next year, he’ll catch them all.
