Ethan Paul Drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates (again)

One year after being selected by the Pirates in the 26th round, Ethan Paul is taken in the 9th by... Pittsburgh.

It can be argued that Tim Corbin’s biggest recruiting coup last year was not freshman fireballer Kumar “White Castle” Rocker, but convincing Ethan “Chili P” Paul to turn down his offer from the Pittsburgh Pirates and return to Vanderbilt for his senior year.

And what a year it was (and continues to be). Chili P batted 3rd, stabilized the SS position, and slashed .325/.392/.594 with 21 2B, 1 3B, 9 HR, and a team leading 70 RBI.

This led the Pittsburgh Pirates, who chose Paul in the 26th round last year, to draft him a lot earlier (9th round, pick #274).

Congratulations, Chili P. You earned it. Now lead us to Omaha (please and thank you).
