We are now 69 days away from Vanderbilt football’s season opener against Georgia. I will let you celebrate this in the comments.
There’s no #69 on the roster. (Not nice.)
The only real news today is the soccer team releasing its schedule for the 2019 season, which actually happened on Friday, but we were too busy creating memes of Luke Smith to notice. Sorry, Coach Ambrose! Vanderbilt opens its season against Georgia State on August 22.
Off the West End
Apparently UConn is returning to the Big East, though it’s not entirely clear what they’re going to do with their football team — the AAC won’t let them stay as a football-only member, and it doesn’t sound like they plan on dropping to FCS, either. For the AAC, they have to add a 12th member to keep having a conference championship game, because you have to have a conference championship game.
(That said, it doesn’t sound like fans of the other AAC schools are sad to see them go. The AAC itself, on the other hand... well, this is a big blow, since UConn was their most valuable program in spite of their recent ineptitude on the football field — being a flagship state university that also has a presence in metro New York City and has four national championships in shooty hoops — and that’s just on the men’s side — is kind of a big deal, it turns out.)
The Preds traded P.K. Subban. It sounds like a salary dump.
