Good morning.
We’re now 71 days away from Vanderbilt’s season opener against Georgia. There’s no #71 on the roster (at least until freshmen are assigned jersey numbers.) Since we skipped yesterday (apologies), let’s go ahead and assign #72, Dan Dawkins, as today’s Commodore. A teammate of Allan Walters at The Peddie School, Dawkins was one of the top-rated center prospects in the country at 6’3” and 300 pounds. After a redshirt year, he’ll definitely be in the mix to replace Bruno Reagan on the offensive line. No pressure there or anything.
The Vanderbilt Baseball team will play Louisville at 6:00 PM CT in the College World Series. We’ll have a game thread, of course. Vanderbilt just needs to win one game, either tonight or tomorrow, to advance to the final.
Last night at the NBA Draft, Darius Garland was selected fifth overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Teammate Simi Shittu went undrafted; we’ll see if he gets picked up as an undrafted free agent.
This is an abbreviated Anchor Drop, but if you want to use this as an open thread for this afternoon’s CWS game between Michigan and Texas Tech, go for it.
