Anchor Drop, June 17, 2019: 75 Days to Kickoff

Vanderbilt beats Louisville to open the College World Series.

NCAA Football: Vanderbilt at Middle Tennessee Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning.

We’re 75 days away from Vanderbilt football’s season opener against Georgia. There is no #75 on the roster at the present time, so no Commodore of the Day, for the second day in a row.

That leaves us to talk about baseball. Vanderbilt beat Louisville, 3-1, to open the College World Series on Sunday afternoon behind a strong performance by starting pitching Drake Fellows and two homers from Austin Martin. That was enough to move the Commodores two wins away from the finals.

They’ll play again on Tuesday at 6:00 PM CT against Mississippi State, the beneficiary of Auburn gagging one away in a 5-4 Bulldog win last night.
