Good morning.
We’re 76 days away from kickoff, and there’s no 76 on the roster (as of now), so this is all about baseball. Vanderbilt baseball opens the College World Series today at 1:00 PM CT against the hated Louisville Cardinals; like all of the College World Series, this one’s on ESPN.
The Louisville Courier-Journal breaks down the likely pitching matchup between Drake Fellows and Louisville’s Reid Detmers. Meanwhile, the Tennessean asks the truly important question: will the Whistlers be in Omaha?
The SB Nation mothership has a breakdown of the College World Series, as well.
The Orlando Sentinel previews the football team, and ranks them #71 nationally.
ICYMI: Chicago OL Kevo Wesley committed yesterday.
Off the West End
From our sister blogs: Roll Bama Roll podcasts ... Auburn gets a linebacker, as reported by College and Magnolia ... A Sea of Blue reports that multiple Kentucky baseball players have entered the NCAA transfer portal ... And the Valley Shook breaks down LSU’s recruiting ... Ole Miss added a defensive end, per Red Cup Rebellion ... Rock M Nation reports that Barry Odom is cleaning up in St. Louis (God, so much recruiting content.)
The big news of yesterday was the Los Angeles Lakers trading away the franchise’s future (seriously, in addition to this year’s first-round pick, they traded away two more first-round picks and gave the Pelicans the right to swap picks in 2023 and 2025, and they traded Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, and Brandon Ingram) for Anthony Davis. As far as we’re concerned, Darius Garland had been rumored to be going to the Lakers at 4 and now that’s obviously not happening.
