Vanderbilt hires Adam Mazarei as assistant coach

Jerry Stackhouse has his second assistant coach.

Jerry Stackhouse has his second assistant coach. A day after David Grace was officially named as Stackhouse’s associate head coach, former Memphis Grizzlies assistant coach Adam Mazarei was officially announced as an assistant coach per a release by VU.

Mazarei has been with the Grizzlies for the last six years, but he does have some experience at the college level as an assistant coach at Moorpark College in California from 2010-13. He also worked at the IMPACT Basketball Academy in Las Vegas as a player development specialist. That seems to be his forte with the Grizzlies as well, and if David Grace is the ace recruiter, Mazarei will be charged with making them better.

Mazarei, who’s 36 years old, played college basketball at Division III Redlands and graduated with a degree in psychology in 2006.
