Yep. Grace’s Twitter profile says that he is Vanderbilt’s associate head coach. So, too, does his Wikipedia page.
Who is David Grace? He’s been a college assistant coach since 2006, when he joined the Sacramento State coaching staff for a season. Following that, he was at San Francisco for a year, then five years at Oregon State and five at UCLA before joining Cal’s staff last season. Before joining the college ranks, he was a high school coach in the Phoenix area for seven years, including two as the head coach at South Mountain High School. And before his coaching career, he served in the Air Force for 20 years. While still in the Air Force, he started coaching some AAU teams.
Grace is well-regarded as a recruiter and should help greatly on that front. He’s also been in the college game for long enough to show Jerry Stackhouse the ropes. We’ll reserve judgment for after Stackhouse fills out the rest of the coaching staff, but this seems like a good start.
