Arkansas Razorbacks (15-14) at Vanderbilt Commodores (9-20)
When: 7:30 PM CT, Wednesday, March 6, 2019
Where: Memorial Gym, Nashville, Tennessee
TV: SEC Network/WatchESPN
Radio: Vanderbilt IMG Sports Network
Just two more games stand between Vanderbilt and the kind of history you don’t want to make. No SEC team has ever gone winless over an 18-game conference schedule.
If there is good news, tonight’s opponent, the Arkansas Razorbacks, came very close to stopping the losing streak a month ago. Joe Toye hit a three-pointer in the final minute to give Vanderbilt a two-point lead, and Vanderbilt defended the hell out of the Razorbacks on the ensuing possession only to see 28-percent three-point shooter Keyshawn Embery-Simpson. And then Saben Lee got called for an offensive foul before Vanderbilt could respond.
Immediately after that game, the Razorbacks went on a six-game losing streak of their own, which they didn’t end until a win over Ole Miss on Saturday. And this time the game is at Memorial.
Oh yeah, and it’s Senior Night. Joe Toye, the team’s lone senior, will be honored at the game. (If he starts the game on the bench, I am on the Fire Bryce Drew train. Not starting a senior on Senior Night is a fireable offense in my book. There, I have answered the question of “what would it take for me to call for the coach’s head this year?”)
Anchor Down.
