Anchor Drop, December 15, 2019: Women’s basketball hosts Eastern Kentucky

Meanwhile, the men’s team lost to Liberty on Saturday.

Good morning.

Vanderbilt men’s basketball returned from finals last night and lost 61-56 to Liberty; the women’s team makes its return today. The Commodores host Eastern Kentucky today at 3:00 PM CT; the game will be televised on the SEC Network. Eastern Kentucky is 6-3 and has won at Memphis and Xavier, not that I actually have any idea whether Memphis and Xavier are good at women’s basketball.

And there’s your Vanderbilt news for the day. (Holiday break is, of course, slow.)

Off the West End

Unsurprisingly, Joe Burrow is your Heisman winner. Somewhat surprisingly, Burrow got the highest percentage of first-place votes in the history of the award.

Your lower-division football playoff update! North Dakota State wins, because of course they did. Minnesota State and West Florida won the Division II semifinals, and North Central and Wisconsin-Whitewater are into Friday’s Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl (the Division III championship game, for the uninitiated.)

Bad Gambling Advice

Southern Illinois at Missouri (3:00 PM CT, SEC Network): Southern Illinois +14.5, Under 122

South Carolina at Clemson (4:00 PM CT, ESPN2): Clemson -6, Under 138.5

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at Texas A&M (5:00 PM CT, SEC Network+): Texas A&M-Corpus Christi +11.5, Over 117.5
