In case you haven’t had enough Vanderbilt sports today, the Vanderbilt Commodores take on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on the hardwood tonight, in the de facto championship game of what we’ve dubbed the Hetwetter Invitational.
Both teams come into this 3-0 in the event. Tulsa so far has dispatched Austin Peay by a score of 72-65 (Vanderbilt beat the Governors, 90-72); Southeastern Louisiana by a score of 73-66 (Vanderbilt beat the Lions, 78-70); and South Carolina State, 78-47 (Vanderbilt beat that team, 97-60.) In other words, these teams are evenly matched, so feel the excitement.
Tulsa’s best player is Brandon Rachal, who’s on his third college in three years after starting his career at LSU, got suspended from LSU’s team after appearing in a music video drinking underage, then played last year at Pearl River Community College. So that’s your fun tidbit of the day. Rachal is averaging 16.5 ppg and 8.5 rpg on the young season for the Golden Hurricane and is really the one name you need to know. KenPom predicts a 69-66 Vanderbilt win.
