Bad Gambling Advice: Week 6

Wherein last week was as disastrous as the column’s name says it is.

DISCLAIMER: This Series is called “Bad Gambling Advice.” Should you rely on this post to bet actual money on the outcomes of sporting events, that is your fault, not mine. After all, this post is titled “Bad Gambling Advice,” and what part of “Bad Gambling Advice” do you not understand?

Well, after five weeks of doing okay, Bad Gambling Advice lived up to its name last week, going 1-5 on picks against the spread and 1-4 on totals.

The numbers for the season — 19-23-4 ATS, 22-21-3 on totals — still look all right, but this losing streak must continue. On to the schedule and the picks.

Utah State at LSU (11:00 AM, SEC Network)

The best part of this game, of course, is the SEC caving to Bama complaints and making LSU play Utah State at 11 while Vandy-Ole Miss gets an evening time slot.

Projected final score: LSU 49, Utah State 28

Picks: Utah State +27.5, Over 73.5

Auburn at Florida (2:30 PM, CBS)

Your CBS game is a matchup between an Auburn team that suddenly looks like a buzzsaw and a Florida team that I still think is extremely overrated. This feels like an easy pick.

Projected final score: Auburn 35, Florida 14

Picks: Auburn -2.5, Over 48.5

Troy at Missouri (3:00 PM, SEC Network)

Troy has been okay this year. Nothing special, but good enough to keep the final respectable here.

Projected final score: Missouri 49, Troy 31

Picks: Troy +24.5, Over 66

Georgia at Tennessee (6:00 PM, ESPN)

On the one hand, Georgia will stomp Tennessee. On the other hand, Georgia will probably just treat Tennessee like it’s Vanderbilt or something. The backdoor is wide open.

Projected final score: Georgia 31, Tennessee 10

Picks: Tennessee +24, Under 51.5

Vanderbilt at Ole Miss (6:30 PM, SEC Network)

Vanderbilt is 0-4 ATS this season and as a result, I am 0-4 picking Vanderbilt games. Is that going to deter me from being a homer? Hell no.

Projected final score: Vanderbilt 24, Ole Miss 21

Picks: Vanderbilt +7, Under 63.5
