On Tuesday, Vanderbilt sophomore safety Zaire Jones announced via Twitter that he would be leaving the program and exploring transfer options.
First and foremost I would like to thank Vanderbilt and it’s supporting staff for the opportunity they have given me, but I’ve decided that the best option for My family and I is to finish up my student athletic career at a different university this year. ‼️

Jones appeared in five games for Vanderbilt in 2018 and notched 13 tackles. He was the anticipated starter entering the fall, but served a suspension to start the season after an arrest. He got suspended again in November for undisclosed reasons, but even before that he appeared to have been passed on the depth chart by Frank Coppet.
We wish Zaire the best.
