Good morning.
Former Vanderbilt star Sonny Gray has a new home. Gray was traded from the New York Yankees to the Cincinnati Reds for prospects; in addition, Gray signed a three-year extension.
He’ll be going to a team that’s less likely to contend for the postseason but also will be getting away from the toxic media environment in New York. Last year he posted a 4.90 ERA and got pulled from the starting rotation. The latter isn’t a danger in Cincinnati, and he’ll also be a fairly short drive from Nashville as well.
Joe Rexrode laid into the basketball team ahead of tomorrow night’s game against #1 Tennessee. What do you expect the crowd mix of Vanderbilt and UT fans will be?
Slow news day today. There’s some SEC basketball tonight, though. Auburn plays at South Carolina at 5:30; Kentucky hosts Mississippi State at 6; Texas A&M visits Florida at 7:30; and Ole Miss travels to Alabama at 8.
