The Vanderbilt Commodores picked up a new point guard in the 2019 recruiting class. You may recognize the name.
Scotty Pippen, from Sierra Canyon High School in California, announced his commitment via Twitter. The 6’0”, 160-pound Pippen is ranked as the #30 point guard prospect in his class in the 247 Sports composite and the #276 overall prospect in the Class of 2019. He also had offers from Colorado State, UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara, and Washington State.
Pippen was in town over the weekend for an unofficial visit. If you’re curious, the connection here is that his father played with a rookie named Bryce Drew on the Houston Rockets in 1998-99. Also on that team: Hakeem Olajuwon and Charles Barkley.
