Bentonville West (AR) LB Kendall Young Commits to Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt gets a recruit out of the Razorbacks’ backyard.

Vanderbilt’s 2019 recruiting class is now up to 16 commitments.

Kendall Young, from Bentonville, Arkansas, announced his commitment to Vanderbilt on Thursday night. The 6’5”, 210-pound outside linebacker had offers from Arkansas and Missouri, among a host of other schools. For reference, Bentonville, home to Wal-Mart headquarters, is about 25 miles from Fayetteville. Arkansas loses in-state recruits basically never, and especially not recruits in the northwest corner of the state.

Young is rated as a three-star recruit by both Rivals and the 247 Sports composite; the latter rates him as the #110 outside linebacker prospect in the Class of 2019 and the #11 prospect in Arkansas. At 210 pounds he’ll probably need to fill out his frame a bit but he has some upside. As a junior at Bentonville West, Young had 85 tackles and 13 sacks. Here is Young’s junior year highlight tape:
