Good morning.
We are 13 days away from Vanderbilt’s season opener against Middle Tennessee. #13 belongs to two Commodores. Redshirt sophomore WR Jackson Winrow caught a 13-yard pass against Alabama A&M last year in what’s been his only game action (to my knowledge) in two years at Vanderbilt. On defense, safety Brendon Harris, a true freshman from Chattanooga, is one of the highest-rated recruits in Vanderbilt’s 2018 class — though (CONSPIRACY ALERT) he’s not quite as highly rated as he was when he was a Tennessee commitment. Funny how that works...
The football team had its second scrimmage of the fall on Saturday. From the sound of things, the defense was pretty active and generally had a good day.
Here’s Coach Derek Mason on the scrimmage:
Soccer, 0-1 on the season after losing its season opener at Florida State on Thursday, will play at Jacksonville at noon CT. The website doesn’t mention it, but today’s game can be streamed on ESPN+, which costs money but which is probably worth it.
Saturday was also move-in day for Vanderbilt’s Class of 2022. Class of 2022, if you are not an Anchor of Gold commenter yet, what are you doing with your life?!
Tweet of the Day
I continue to be baffled at how difficult it is to find a sports bar that plays game sound in this city/country. There seems to be an assumption that people come to sports bars to have wings and listen to pop music at a moderate level? How did this start?

Off the West End
The Wyndham Championship was suspended due to weather, but Brandt Snedeker held a three-shot lead on the field at the end of play on Saturday.
David Price shut down the Rays for seven innings and picked up his 13th win of the season.
The Titans lost their second game of the preseason, 30-14 to the Buccaneers.
Around the SEC: LSU’s Drake Davis got arrested for domestic violence, Bama lost a linebacker for the season, Georgia freshman RB Zamir White tore his ACL in practice.
Here, watch a player from the Hawaii team bat-flip after a walk-off homer... in the Little League World Series.
