Good morning.
We’re 32 days away from Vanderbilt’s season opener against Middle Tennessee. #32 on the roster is redshirt sophomore RB Jamauri Wakefield. Wakefield was expected to emerge last year as a change of pace back behind Ralph Webb, but it never really materialized: Wakefield had 28 carries for 115 yards on the season, with 15 of those carries coming against Alabama A&M. Perhaps another year will give him more opportunities.
As we get closer to fall camp and summer camp season fades into the background, recruits who haven’t committed yet will begin to narrow their lists. Vanderbilt wound up on some of those yesterday, and since news is still slow we’ll share.

Basketball got in on the act, too, with four-star Daniel Ramsey naming Vanderbilt in his top 6:
First off I would like to thank all the schools that took the time to recruit me and get to know me it was truly a blessing with that being said this is the final 6 schools I will be continuing my recruiting process with‼️ pic.twitter.com/FsTaqMNA3u

Off the West End
The Braves scratched Kyle Wright from his latest start in AA... because they’re promoting him to AAA.
Adam Butler is looking to keep his spot with the Patriots in training camp. In Green Bay, injuries could clear the way for Oren Burks to get playing time as a rookie.
Meanwhile, C.J. Duncan and Trent Sherfield are in camp with the Arizona Cardinals; we would highly recommend they get out after this, though:
Building it brick by brick.

Each player had a brick with their name on it in their locker when they got here for #CardsCamp.https://t.co/ltUJvZoKPJ
For his part, Sherfield’s making a strong early impression in Cardinals training camp.
David Price went eight innings and gave up one run... and got a no decision for his troubles.
