Good morning.

Today marks 39 days until Vanderbilt’s season opener against Middle Tennessee. #39 on this year’s roster is true freshman kicker Javan Rice. Rice was rated as the #11 kicker prospect in the country by Kohl’s Kicking and projects to step into the placekicking role vacated by Tommy Openshaw in 2018.

The women’s version of the 2018 SEC/Big 12 Challenge was announced on Monday. Vanderbilt will play at Kansas State on December 2 as part of the event. (Interestingly, the men’s team will also play at Kansas State this season as the return game of a home-and-home that started last year.)

Over at the Tennessean, Adam Sparks ponders if Kyle Shurmur and Kalija Lipscomb will be enough for the Vanderbilt passing game in 2018. We’ll just say that Cam Johnson will be a factor.

And over to our east, the Knoxville Police Department uses perfectly normal interrogation techniques when questioning UT football players. No, nothing wrong with this at all.

Oh my God will the season start already?
