Good morning.
We’re 45 days away from Vanderbilt’s season opener against Middle Tennessee. #45 on the roster is tight end Cody Markel. A redshirt sophomore from Middleton, Wisconsin, Markel walked on the team in 2016 and appeared in 10 games in the 2017 season including one start at Ole Miss, though he didn’t catch a pass.
Former Vanderbilt players Wade Baldwin IV and John Jenkins won the NBA Summer League title with the Portland Trail Blazers, who beat the Lakers in the final last night.
The Tennessean’s Joe Rexrode takes a billboard of Kyle Shurmur in downtown Atlanta and turns it into an article about paying college athletes.
Former Georgia QB Aaron Murray doesn’t think much of new Vol coach Jeremy Pruitt, who was UGA’s defensive coordinator for a couple of years. I do have questions about a coach who can’t get along with Mark Richt.
Who knows how seriously MLB is thinking expansion, but apparently Nashville is a candidate.
