Day 1 of the annual SEC media-and-coaches get-together came and went with a... well, maybe not a whimper, but there certainly weren’t any big headlines. Take it away, Vol Twitter Scarecrow Dan Wolken:

Pretty much. If you’re a regular consumer of any media outlet that covers the SEC (no, Anchor of Gold doesn’t count; we only really cover Vanderbilt), there’s really nothing new happening. You knew all of this. Although Adam Sparks did ask a question of SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey.

Answer: he’s talking about the 13 schools in the SEC that aren’t Vanderbilt, which absolutely aren’t spending any of the revenue brought in by athletics on anything other than athletics. There, solved that riddle for you. Really, though, most of the news is stuff like this:

Anyway, since you are very much here for this, here is today’s schedule. The SEC Network will be covering this all day, and the coaches’ segments at the podium will be on the SEC Network+.

7:30 AM CT: SEC Head of Officiating Steve Shaw (we apologize)

8:00 AM CT: Georgia Head Coach Kirby Smart (players: WR Terry Godwin, DE Jonathan Ledbetter, DB J.R. Reed)

9:20 AM CT: Ole Miss Head Coach Matt Luke (players: QB Jordan Ta’amu, C Sean Rawlings, DT Josiah Coatney)

12:30 PM CT: Arkansas Head Coach Chad Morris (players: S Santos Ramirez, LB Dre Greenlaw, OL Hjalte Froholdt)

1:50 PM CT: Florida Head Coach Dan Mullen (players: LB David Reese II, OL Martez Ivey, DL Cece Jefferson)

Have fun, and don’t hurt anybody.
