Regionals Day 2: Live Thread

Vanderbilt faces Clemson at 6:00 PM tonight.

Vanderbilt did what it needed to do on Friday, picking up a 2-0 win over St. John’s to set up a matchup with regional host Clemson at 6:00 PM CT tonight. The game will air on the SEC Network.

The Commodores didn’t do much at the plate yesterday, but on a day when Drake Fellows was dealing, a two-out double by Philip Clarke gave Vanderbilt the only run it would need, though Jayson Gonzalez added a solo homer later to give Vanderbilt an insurance run.

Two regional hosts — Florida State and NC State -- lost to 4-seeds on Friday and will play to stave off elimination today, while two others -- Ole Miss and Georgia -- were rained out yesterday and haven’t played yet. Notably, should Vanderbilt win the regional, they’d face the winner of the Tallahassee Regional in the supers — and the 1-seed and 2-seed in said regional are playing an elimination game at 11 AM.

In terms of other games, aside from what’s happening in Tallahassee, the games I’m keeping an eye on are Louisville-Texas Tech (I am always here to root against Loserville, and they’re playing my wife’s alma mater), and in the #Pac12AfterDark game I am interested to see what LSU can do against Oregon State.

Have fun, and remember to keep your het dry.
