Walker Buehler was part of a combined no-hitter in his third MLB start

Walker Buehler did not have the day off on Friday, but Buehler did get to call it a night early after six innings of work against the San Diego Padres.

That was sort of weird, because Buehler had not allowed a single hit. But pitch counts, and stuff, and Buehler’s was up there: he threw 93 pitches over six innings, striking out eight and walking three, and Dave Roberts decided that he would spare the Padres the final three innings.

But the Padres ended the night without a single hit, as three Dodger relievers finished the job that Buehler started. And in his third major league start, Buehler had a combined no-hitter. In three starts this season, Buehler has allowed just two runs and struck out 19 batters in 16 innings of work.
