The SEC announced the television schedule for the first three weeks of the 2018 regular season on Thursday afternoon. Vanderbilt will open the season against Middle Tennessee at 6:30 PM CT on September 1, in a game televised on the SEC Network Alternate channel. The Commodores will follow that a week later with an 11:00 AM CT kickoff against Nevada on the SEC Network.
(Vanderbilt’s game at Notre Dame on September 15 does not fall under the SEC’s television contract; that game was previously announced to kick off at 1:30 PM CT on NBC.)
The season opener is the fourth game of a four-year contract between Vanderbilt and MTSU, with the Commodores winning the first three meetings by scores of 17-13, 47-24, and 28-6. Vanderbilt leads the all-time series 14-3, with the three losses all occurring between 2001 and 2005.
Vanderbilt has never played Nevada before, though the Wolfpack does have a name that some Commodore fans will know: McLane Mannix, a longtime Vanderbilt commit, was Nevada’s second-leading receiver as a true freshman.
