The NCAA announced the field for the baseball championship on Monday, and Vanderbilt landed in a familiar spot.

This is the second year in a row that Vanderbilt will open the tournament in Clemson. Last year, Vanderbilt was also the 2-seed in the Clemson Regional, and ended up winning the regional before falling to Oregon State in the Super Regional.
Oh, and guess who the 3-seed was in the Clemson Regional last year? That’s right, St. John’s, who is the 3-seed in this year’s Clemson Regional as well. It’s almost like the NCAA is totally uncreative with this. At least the 4-seed is different: last year, it was UNC Greensboro, but it’s Morehead State this year. Otherwise, this is the same damn regional Vanderbilt faced last year. Real creative, guys.
Should Vanderbilt advance, they’ll play the winner of the Tallahassee Regional, which is different from last year. But the first weekend of the tournament will be very familiar.
