Anchor Drop, April 7, 2018: The cone of silence

New, comments

Luke Kornet continued a strong week for former Vanderbilt players in the NBA.

NBA: Orlando Magic at New York Knicks Nicole Sweet-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning.

Yesterday, we refused to talk about a certain team that had lost six games in a row. Last night, said team did this. Since obviously our refusal to talk about it is the reason that happened, we are hereby implementing a cone of silence regarding said team until further notice. (Note that the cone of silence does not apply to the comments section, only the Anchor Drop.)

Today, the team we’re not talking about right now plays Georgia at 2:00 PM CT on the SEC Network+. Also, the women’s tennis team (who we are talking about) plays LSU at 11:00 AM CT; seniors Astra Sharma and Payton Robinette will be honored prior to the game, the final home game of the season for the second-ranked Commodores. Live stream is here.

Off the West End

Earlier this week, Damian Jones had a career-high 8 points; Thursday, Wade Baldwin IV scored 14, one short of his career high. Last night, Luke Kornet scored a career-high 17 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 4 assists in a 122-98 Knicks win.

On Friday at the Masters, Patrick Reed shot a 6-under 66 to take a two-shot lead over Marc Leishman going into the weekend.

This is actually a cool story about former Florida coach Jim McElwain.
