Good morning.
The Vanderbilt baseball team took a 1-0 victory over LSU on Sunday afternoon behind a seven-inning shutout by freshman Mason Hickman, who improved to 5-0 on the season. That improved Vanderbilt’s record to 17-7 on the season and 5-1 in the SEC, putting the Commodores in a tie for first place with Georgia through the first two series.
Women’s tennis improved to 14-3 overall and 7-1 in SEC play with a 4-1 win over Georgia on Sunday. Men’s tennis won 4-2 at Auburn, running their record to 15-4 overall and 5-2 in the SEC.
Women’s lacrosse picked up its first Big East win of the season with a 17-8 win at Butler, improving to 6-3 overall and 1-1 in the Big East.
Women’s golf finished in fourth place at the Clemson Invitational after scoring seven birdies over the final five holes of the course. Still, they finished 28 shots behind first-place Furman.
Off the West End
The Preds lost a 5-4 shootout to the Winnipeg Jets.
Your Final Four; Loyola-Chicago, Michigan, Villanova, and Kansas. Notably not present: Kentucky and Duke, the perennial recruiting powerhouses.
If you haven’t heard about the records release from the school to our east, it’s really something. The best part of this, of course, was the text message that Tennessee AD John Currie received from none other than David Williams, which said: “Hang in there my friend. If I can assist in any way even just talking let me know. Sun will come up each and every morning.”
While this seems like a friendly offer of assistance, remember, any “assistance” you receive from the Goldfather will come with a price, especially if you are the athletic director at the University of Tennessee.
Luuuuuuuuuke Watch: Luke played 19 minutes, scoring 10 points, grabbing three boards and dishing out four assists in a 101-97 Knicks win over the Wizards.
Hell, Damian Jones scored his first points of the NBA season in a Warriors loss.
