Vanderbilt raids All-Ivy League team again to add Penn DL Louis Vecchio as graduate transfer

Vecchio was a First-Team All-Ivy defensive end in 2016 and 2017.

Vanderbilt is getting its Ivy League grad transfer on today.

Louis Vecchio, a 6’5”, 255-pound defensive lineman from Orange, California, was named to the First Team All-Ivy in both 2016 and 2017. In 2017, he notched 36 tackles with 8.5 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, and 5 quarterback hurries; he also had four pass breakups.

Like punter Parker Thome, who announced earlier this morning that he would be coming to Vanderbilt as a graduate transfer, Vecchio is out of eligibility in the Ivy League thanks to an Ivy League rule that bars graduate students from playing varsity athletics — but he still has a year of eligibility remaining under NCAA rules, and he’ll play that year on a Vanderbilt defensive line that could certainly use the help. It’s a big jump from the Ivy League to the SEC, but Vecchio has good size and should provide an experienced body to plug in.
