After a week off for Christmas, Vanderbilt is back in action today for its second to last basketball game of the 2018 calendar year, hosting Tennessee State in one of two final tuneups before SEC play begins next Saturday.

And by “tuneups” I mean games that Vanderbilt should win without exerting a ton of effort. Tennessee State is 3-8 on the season, with the three wins coming over Carver, Fisk, and Coppin State. The first two are not Division I, and Coppin State is wjnless and ranked 352 of 353 teams in KenPom.

Tennessee State is ranked 301 in KenPom and while the Tigers have been competitive in some games, they also lost 99-41 to Memphis their last time out. In other words, if this is still in doubt in the second half we should be concerned.
