Brentwood Academy’s Nate Clifton commits

Clifton is the third football player Vanderbilt has gotten from the local high school in the last two years.

Two days before the early signing period, Vanderbilt added its 21st player to the 2019 recruiting class.

Nate Clifton, who plays just down the road at Brentwood Academy, is a 6’5”, 250-pound lineman for the state champion Eagles. He’s currently ranked as the #176 offensive tackle prospect in the country in the 247 Sports composite, though (like several other linemen in this class) he’d need to add a considerable amount of weight to play that position in the SEC. Rivals currently rates Clifton as a two-star recruit. Clifton also plays on the defensive line at Brentwood Academy and might end up on that side of the ball.

At Vanderbilt, Clifton will join former high school teammates Cam Johnson and Gavin Schoenwald on the football team. He is also the third commit from the Nashville area in this year’s class, joining Pearl-Cohn’s Jayden Harrison and Hillsboro’s Donald Fitzgerald.
