Never say that Vanderbilt didn’t have its chances.
Holding a 28-26 lead early in the fourth quarter, Vanderbilt had four chances to score a touchdown from the Missouri 4 yard line, and failed. Missouri, starting the ensuing drive from its own 1-yard line, proceeded to go 99 yards to score what turned out to be the game-winning touchdown, but not without some drama in between. Missouri missed a 33-yard field goal, but Vanderbilt could not convert into a touchdown in spite of the opportunity to win the game.
That’s all we can really say about this game. Vanderbilt could have won this game, and didn’t.
