This shouldn’t be major news, as those five schools (Memphis, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Kansas, and Florida State) are also the five schools that have gotten or will get official visits from Wiseman prior to the early signing period. Wiseman visited Kentucky and Kansas in September, and he’ll visit Vanderbilt next weekend at homecoming (which, as you will recall, is about more than football.)
Wiseman is a Nashville native and played his first two years of high school ball at Ensworth High School, before transferring to Memphis East prior to his junior season, where he played for then-Head Coach Penny Hardaway... who is now the head coach at Memphis. You can probably figure out where this is going, though Kentucky is also a heavy player (and some even think Kansas might have a real shot.) The short version is that this is probably more of a Brandan Wright situation than a Darius Garland situation, but it’s nice to have our name listed in the top five of the best player in the country.
