Only two Vanderbilt Commodores were selected in this weekend’s NFL Draft, but several more will be attempting to continue their careers.
We reported last night that Adam Butler had signed a free agent deal with the Patriots. Now we’ve got a couple more. SB Nation’s own Cincy Jungle reports that Torren McGaster has signed a deal with the Cincinnati Bengals. The senior cornerback led Vanderbilt with 10 passes defensed in 2016 and also had an interception to go along with 57 total tackles.
Meanwhile, Adam Sparks of the Tennessean reports that offensive lineman Barrett Gouger has been invited to the New York Jets’ rookie minicamp. Gouger started 23 games in his Vanderbilt career and was the Commodores’ starting center in all 13 games in 2016. It’s only been one year since the last time a Vanderbilt center went undrafted but wound up on an NFL roster, as Spencer Pulley appeared in all 16 games last year for the San Diego Los Angeles Chargers.
