For being the team’s leading scorer, Matthew Fisher-Davis kind of had a rough junior season.
He played 11 minutes in a November game against Butler, sitting the entire second half due to what was presumed to be an attitude issue. There was what we’ll call the chewing gum incident in a home game against Tennessee, which led to Fisher-Davis sitting down the stretch and coming off the bench for the subsequent game against Georgia. He drew a one-game suspension for a road game at Arkansas and, after coming back, found that sophomore Joe Toye had claimed his spot in the starting lineup.
And, of course, there was that thing in the NCAA Tournament loss to Northwestern. Let’s not even talk about it.
What’s more, Fisher-Davis is at least a fringe NBA prospect; he at least has a marketable skill, and there have been worse players who have left early for the NBA Draft. So there was plenty of speculation that Fisher-Davis might not play for Vanderbilt next season, but Fisher-Davis seemed to put any speculation to bed with a tweet this morning.
One more go around ⚓️

That’s good enough for me. Anchor Down, MFD.
