Vanderbilt Can’t Stop Ole Miss in Second Half, Loses 81-74

Ole Miss scored 54 points after the break.

Bryce Drew might have put a premature end to Ole Miss’s finest season as a player, but his first game against the Rebels as Vanderbilt’s head coach did not go so swimmingly.

The Commodores were able to slow down Ole Miss for a while, but after halftime Ole Miss started hitting threes and didn’t stop. The Rebels went on a 26-7 run midway through the second half as Vanderbilt’s offense went cold. The Commodores rallied late but never quite caught Ole Miss, shooting themselves in the foot with some terrible plays late in the game.

Jeff Roberson led Vanderbilt with 21 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor and 7 rebounds. The Commodores dropped to 11-12 on the season and 4-6 in the SEC, and will look to rebound on Tuesday night in... oh, God, Bud Walton Arena? There are ghosts in that place. Tipoff is at 7:30 PM CT on the SEC Network.
