Feleti Afemui, a 6’2”, 225-pound linebacker from Maui High School in, well, Maui, committed to Vanderbilt on Saturday night while on his official visit to the West End. Afemui is a three-star recruit according to Rivals, and the 247 Sports composite ranking has him as the #54 inside linebacker prospect in the country. Here’s Afemui’s highlight film from earlier this season:
Afemui is, by our count, the sixteenth player to commit to the Commodores in the 2017 recruiting class and the third linebacker, joining early enrollee Dimitri Moore and Colin Anderson as Derek Mason looks to shore up a linebacking corps that loses Zach Cunningham, Nigel Bowden, and Ja’karri Thomas.
National Signing Day is on Wednesday, and it’s starting to look like Vanderbilt may be closing strong and adding to the class.
