Well, say it with me: That sucked.
Vanderbilt held a 58-43 lead over Arkansas with 5:55 to go. Over that time period, Arkansas outscored Vanderbilt 28-12. How’d that happen? The Razorbacks scored 14 points at the foul line and most of the rest, seemingly, came on layups. On two separate occasions, including with one second left, Vanderbilt fouled a three-point shooter.
In short, this was a complete collapse, and of course it came against Arkansas — the one SEC team that Vanderbilt just randomly has never been able to figure out. The Commodores dropped to 9-11 on the season, 3-5 in the SEC, and host Iowa State on Saturday in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge.
