Spencer Pulley didn’t hear his name called in the NFL Draft back in April, but that didn’t stop him from making an NFL roster.
Pulley signed with the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent and proceeded to make the Chargers’ 53-man roster to start the regular season, per SB Nation Chargers blog Bolts From The Blue. The offensive lineman from Germantown, Tennessee, was a three-year starter for the Commodores, starting at guard in his sophomore and junior seasons before moving to center for his senior year. That versatility likely played a role in him earning a roster spot.
Pulley is believed to be the only member of the 2015 Vanderbilt Commodores to make an NFL roster. Stephen Weatherly was waived by the Vikings on Saturday in spite of being drafted in the seventh round. Jake Bernstein, Steven Scheu, and Darreon Herring were cut at the 75-man deadline a week ago. Caleb Azubike and Andrew Williamson were waived earlier in the summer.
