The Vanderbilt Commodores released their latest two-deep ahead of Saturday’s game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and the only changes have to do with the return game.
These changes simply confirm what we already knew: Darrius Sims and Kalija Lipscomb were returning kicks and punts, respectively, against Middle Tennessee last week, and now both are listed in those roles on the depth chart. Neither was listed as a return man on last week’s depth chart, however.
While Sims isn’t listed anywhere else on the depth chart, Derek Mason made clear in his press conference today that he’s going to be involved in the offense.
Mason: "What you saw last week was a healthy Darrius Sims. Now it's all about finding way to get him touches."

Mason also made clear that that whole “running back rotation” thing is for wimps:
Mason (on Ralph Webb's carries): "We're going to feed him as much as we can feed him. You have to go with what works."

However, one topic that didn’t come up was the status of “situational” quarterback Wade Freebeck, who after being inserted in the South Carolina game because reasons did not appear against Middle Tennessee. We assume that Freebeck remains available, though, as he still appears on the depth chart as the second-string quarterback.
A slight surprise comes at fullback, where Dallas Rivers is still listed ahead of actual fullback Bailey McElwain, though the latter performed well as a lead blocker for Ralph Webb last week.
But if there’s good news, the Commodores aren’t having players mysteriously disappear from the depth chart so far this season.
